What is the project about?
As a member of a DevOps team, your role involves providing support and implementing patches for the Oracle environment, placing a significant emphasis on automation. It’s crucial to highlight the automation aspect of the position. The scope of supported products includes Oracle Engineered Systems such as Exadata and ZFS, Oracle databases, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Your responsibilities encompass engineering solutions that align with regulatory requirements and seamlessly integrating them into the banks Infrastructure and code automation environment. A substantial portion of your workload involves patching the infrastructure to ensure compliance, security, and currency.
Daily tasks range from patching to conducting analyses and designs, as well as engineering new or adapted solutions for the environment. In your capacity as a member of a self-steering service delivery team, you take charge of the operation of the Oracle database infrastructure, predominantly delivered on Oracle Exadata with a smaller number on commodity hardware. Maintaining the currency of environments, adhering to standards, and updating documentation are integral aspects of the role. You provide support for critical banking applications serving both Dutch Retail and Global Wholesale business, with the bank prioritizing high quality, continuity, and stability 24/7. The role may require occasional work outside regular office hours during standby shifts.
You work closely together with other DevOps teams and the Product Owners
We are looking for a DevOps engineer who:
- has at least 5 years Oracle focused DevOps engineer experience with extensive security knowledge and likes to work in a DevOps team in a complex environment.
- loves automation challenges and really likes connecting engineering with operational/delivery issues.
- gets enthusiastic when talking about (test-) automation options (Ansible, Python, API’s, Rest, PyTest, RSpec or other). But also, a simple task automation will have your full attention.
- Sees the big picture but likes to go in the details to solve complex integration issues.
- identifies and manages dependencies and risks.
- gives and receives constructive feedback; continuous improvement is one of your drivers.
- is willing to share knowledge and experience.
- Participates proactively in team decisions and challenges team members on the presented solutions.
Job requirements
- Extensive experience with automation (Ansible, Azure DevOps and Python).
- Experience working with Oracle Exadata and ZFS (Infrastructure).
- Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS Technology stack products.
- Understanding development concepts: Testing, CI/CD, Pipelines & API interfaces.
- Translate high level design in an implementation plan and set of refined user stories.
- Working with Azure tools: Board, Work Items, Repos, Pipelines and SharePoint & Power BI.
