What is the project about?

Join the team in shaping and enhancing the client’s management platform for storage services, focusing on secure, user-friendly access to the limitless potential of ICT data for both internal and business clients. Your role as a medior/senior DevOps engineer will involve automating various activities within the storage and backup team, leveraging APIs and Ansible playbooks. Actively participating in pre-sales, your team will ensure the seamless onboarding of new customers and revenue growth. The storage platforms encompass IP storage, Blockmode Storage, and a backup platform, with a constant commitment to innovation, quality assurance, and efficiency enhancement.

As a key contributor, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of automation concepts, acting as the primary point of contact for automation-related queries. Collaborating within the chain, you’ll oversee automation and portal management for Storage & Back-up, seeking constant simplification to optimize platform stability and efficiency. Your role extends to opening the platform for upstream parties to automate chain activities, establishing frameworks for delegated responsibility. The platforms covered include:
 

  • Backup services with Commvault,
  • File Cache/NAS IP storage services,
  • Object storage services,
  • Broadcom/Brocade SAN infrastructure,
  • IBM SVC Block Storage virtualization,
  • and Storage backend systems from various suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and implement infrastructure improvements
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and testing of services
  • Convert manual activities into automated processes
  • Keep pace with the evolving storage & back-up domain, ensuring continuous automation and enhancement efforts
  • Automate report generation for various purposes, including client and internal reports
  • Provide data to Data Lakes (e.g., Splunk) & CMDB

Job requirements

  • Experience with automation and tools such as Ansible, BPM, and Python
  • Proficient scripting skills in languages like PowerShell or Python
  • Familiarity with APIs
  • Basic knowledge of Connectivity and OS management (Linux & Windows)
  • Understanding of Dutch is a big pre.

Nice to have:

  • Security awareness;
  • Global knowledge of various storage concepts;
  • Familiar with the KANBAN methodology.

About the client:
The team operates from the Apeldoorn office once or twice a week and consists of 24 professionals. The team actively seeks collaboration with their chain partners, and there is extensive communication with the Network and Hosting teams for projects and the implementation of new clients. Naturally, this also applies to automation.
